This hostel, run by a sustainable forestry management NGO, is a wooden den of comfort hidden away down a gravel residential lane a short walk from the bus station.

It's not without issues: device-heavy travelers will be frustrated with the dire lack of outlets in the dorms; there are no bathroom hand towels and, oddly, toilet paper is outside the stalls in common bathrooms (and there's limited English). But the private rooms are some of Valdivia's best value and it's one of the city's coziest.
